#PN 6 Parakeet

Cute little place, very much an efficiency cottage. Close to the Sanibel Lighthouse and easy drive to everywhere else. Very quiet and coz, and very affordable.

The cottage at Parrot Nest (Parakeet #6) was really good for the two of us. It was clean and comfortable. We were made aware of the herculean effort to get the cottages at Parrot Nest usable after the devastation wrought by Hurricane Ian and were humbled by it and appreciative of it. We also appreciated the willingness of Breakaway's staff (and the property's owner) to re-schedule our late October 2022 trip to November 2023. We enjoyed the beach chairs, the beach carts, and the bicycles provided with the cottage. We used the bicycles extensively since we did not rent a car at RSW on arrival. Every businessperson we spoke with- especially at the restaurants- expressed appreciation for our presence on the island and our patronage. Recovery from Ian is progressing, but there is still much to be done. We particularly enjoyed the beaches (and the shelling) and the Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

The Parakeet was just magical! We enjoyed every second of our stay. The house was perfectly clean and so pretty. The free bikes were such a bonus, it is so easy to bike everywhere on Sanibel.

I reserved #6 Parakeet for my neice and her husband to spend their honeymoon there. They were so happy with the newly remodelled accomodation and especially the location. Bicycles were on site free of charge to explore the island, which they took full advantage of. I would most definately recommend staying there without any hesitation.

This cottage was just what was needed for my husband and I to spend a few days in Sanibel. The bikes were wonderful to have! Barely used the car. Very quiet area. We would stay here again.

Had a lovely time in Sanibel at the Parrot's Nest. We loved the bikes and chairs made available for the beach. We also loved that we could walk to the Lighthouse Cafe each morning for breakfast. The cottage bed was a very comfortable double and the bathroom was clean albeit a bit cozy. Totally recommend the location as we were able to avoid getting in the car to get to the Lighthouse Beach.

I loved staying at the Parakeet cottage. It was perfect for me and my husband. It had a nice patio with a table and chairs. There were bikes, beach chairs, beach umbrellas and even wagons free to use. There was a great restaurant (Lighthouse Cafe) within walking distance and a icecream place. Lighthouse beach is also within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again.

Cozy cottage. Just what we were looking for!

We wanted a warm getaway during our winter holiday. Breakaway Vacation Properties provided the perfect respite. Our cozy, comfortable, and newly renovated cottage provided all the needed amenities for the beach. We had bikes, towels, chairs, even sunscreen, and a book! The best part is that we were able to drop our car keys and ride bikes to the beach and a handful of restaurants from our secluded paradise.

We loved our overnight stay - only wish it could've been longer! (Also wish we'd known there were beach chairs and bug spray in the laundry room.) The free bikes proved invaluable for exploring the island and getting to the beach. This quiet end of Sanibel is perfect; there's hardly any traffic, and there are stores, a restaurant and general store a seashell's throw away!

Parakeet cottage was perfect for our holiday getaway. Clean and pleasing to the eye, could walk to shops, restaurants and a great beach, we got all that was promised and more. We highly recommend Parrots nest and will be returning soon!

My husband and I stayed here for our first anniversary and it was great! Nice, clean and quiet little cottage/condo. Great location, just a short walk or bike ride to the beach right across the road. We will definitely be returning!

This little place was so cute and cozy. We were only there for a weekend trip but it had all the amenities we needed. Easy to find, easy access to building and quiet.  This was the cutest place and very affordable!

The cabin was clean and cute. They provided chairs, umbrella, lotion and bug spray for the beach. We rode the bikes provided everywhere. Would stay here again!!

Really loved this place . Loved the privacy on the patio. Also loved how small it was. Only 6 cottages. Will definitely stay here again.

I stayed in the Parakeet cottage and it was absolutely wonderful. The room was exactly how the pictures look. Especially loved the little patio, it was so nice and cozy and even though you were close to the road and parking you couldn't see any cars because it was lined with greenery. Just a half mile from the beach and there were couple really nice shops, an ice cream shop and Lighthouse Café were just a min or two walk away. Felt like a very safe neighborhood. Plenty of bikes to use to get around. If I would go to Sanibel Island I would most defiantly stay at The Parrots Nest Cottages!

Very clean and cozy cottage! Loved the private patio and available beach chairs, grill, and many other items! Perfect for a short stay. A soft and comfy chair would be the icing on the cake for a longer stay. Highly recommend! We found tons of shells and even a starfish at Lighthouse Beach. Can’t wait to return!!

The cottage was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed having our breakfast on our private patio each morning. The kitchen was simple but one burner on the stove could use some attention but we were able to manage. Bathroom was small but suitable. We liked that there were good quality beach chairs and wagons for our usage. These cottages are great for families. The walk to the beach was easy and there is a great bakery and ice cream shop down the street. We would recommend staying here.

Room was very clean. Convenient location to beaches. Everting you need to go to the beach in comfort, such as cooler, chairs, towels, umbrellas, floating devices, metal wagons to pack all items you choose to take to the beach. Washer and dryer on ground. I have stay here 2 times, and will book my vacation stay with them again!!! You have a private outside patio with table and chairs. Beautiful grounds. Love and highly recommend

Loved the Parrot Nest. So cozy.

My 4 night stay at sweet Parakeet far exceeded my expectations. The location is excellent...hidden and quiet in the east end. Beach access is easy and leads to a relatively quiet part. The Lighthouse Cafe next door has really good food and great people. Parakeet was sparkling clean and was well equiped. The table and chairs located privately just outside the kitchen door became my dining location. The grounds are lovely. Kim was professional but friendly, too. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. I'm already plotting my return!

Annie at Breakaway did everything she could to inspire us to make the most of a trip that could have been lost. So nice to have good bicycles to use as all other were rented for days. The Parakeet was small , very clean and comfortable. It was just what we needed and within walking distance of the beach. I can see us staying here again.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a place last minute over the Christmas Holiday and Kim had a unit available for us to stay at and we loved it! Very clean, great location and Kim's communication was top notch! 5/5 stars would highly recommend to travelers staying in the area!

We stayed in Parakeet 6. The location was great - it is a solid 7-10 minute walk to the beach. We mostly rode our bike to the beach and used the backpack-style beach chairs once there. There is no public parking at the beach access site. The cottage was perfect for our needs with the exception of the bathroom being very small. The shower is tiny but had good pressure and hot water. The bed was comfortable and the patio chairs were nice. We appreciated the outside shower to rinse off the beach. This place cannot be beaten- free access to bikes, beach wagons, and chairs - even a few umbrellas. I would recommend and will stay here again. Easy check in with lock box and excellent communication pre-arrival.

As soon as we arrived at the Parakeet we realized we were going to have a great time. Walking into the cottage, the first thing we noticed was how clean and tidy everything was. It was definitely disinfected and smelled fresh and clean. This was a big plus for us! The available bikes available on the premises made it so easy to get around on the island. The grill was good too and overall the amenities were great. We recommend this place for a quick and quiet getaway.

My husband and I was celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary and the Parrots Nest was perfect! We will be coming back next year for sure!

seemed like we were the only guests our first nightlocation was easy to get to and quiet. Liked doing laundry right there on the property. Its walking distance to a few shops and restaurant The lighthouse café. wish we could have stayed longer. Next time!

It was absolutely charming and a perfect place to stay on Sanibel Island! Can't wait to go back...
